THE GRAND SCHEME PROJECT®
The Grand Scheme is a pre-designed program initiative which can be tailored to your organization's needs. The motivation for the Grand Scheme emerged from Dorothea's interactions with nonprofit organizations, analyses of public policies, and clinical research with gerontological institutions. While working in these multiple capacities, she recognized the gaps in support for grandparents and older adults informally raising children.
The mission of the Grand Scheme is to empower grandparents and/or older adult caregivers (ages 55+) through education and collaboration creating an improved quality of life for raising children.
The Grand Scheme seeks to increase impact in three areas. The first concerns intergenerational reciprocity, the extent to which generations can strengthen one another when living in the same household. The second seeks to expand access and increase effectiveness of intergenerational programs for nonprofit organizations. The third consists of an investigation of intergenerational consequences from family behaviors and patterns. From a family genealogy perspective, the Grand Scheme aims to expose intergenerational challenges to enhance social support and policies in light of intergenerational reciprocity.
